In 2023, Huis Janssens was transformed into Curiosium, an interactive museum dedicated to memory. After the original resident, Adolf Janssens, donated the house to the local historical society, it became a place brimming with memories, collectible objects, and rediscovered treasures. MoJuice was entrusted with creating the entire interactive layer accompanying the renovation.
Alongside several documentaries, informative displays, and interactive screens, we also developed an interactive rhyming table. Poetry was of great importance to Adolf Janssens — his correspondence with Guido Gezelle is proof of that, as it allowed him to reflect on his daily (often religious) life. The interactive rhyming table invites visitors to do the same, using verses that appear on screen as a starting point. Visitors add their own rhymes, continuing the poem in an endless flow. The application responds to each visitor’s poetic input. Based on various parameters, the system evaluates the text, bringing the portrait of Adolf Janssens to life. Janssens himself, brought to virtual existence, reacts and offers feedback on the rhymes that visitors create.
